Focus Questions

Our discussions of albatross population modeling will be more useful and productive if we focus our attention in specific issues. Please edit, add to, answer or delete any of the following questions.

1. Do more accurate data help reduce uncertainty in model predictions?

2. How can banding data be best incorporated into population models?

3. Can banding projects be designed so that the data better inform population dynamics models?

4. How can we make banding, nest count, and fisheries data accessible to population modeling groups?

5. What is the appropriate level for aggregating of age structure?

6. Are counts of nesting pairs good proxies for population size?

7. What is the best way to apply population model results to the general public, resource managers, and decision makers?

8. How should uncertainty be expressed?

9. What is the appropriate level for aggregating sub-populations?

10. what are the major events that impacted the populations (e.g. washovers)

11. Do we need to mark chicks (age 0 animals)?
